大自然的鬼斧神工造化了这里诡异迷离的地貌，原始神秘粗犷蛮野的“古堡”，构筑了这座神秘的殿堂。当你走进这里，一时很难明白自己是行走在火星上还身陷魔域仙界？或许这就是《哈利波特》中所说的“霍格沃茨”吧!
从山西省大同市区出发，沿大同至浑源旅游专线前行约30公里，到达杜庄村，村北有一片充满魔幻色彩的峡谷地带。厚厚的黄土不知经历了多少年的流水侵蚀风霜雨雪，造就了这片神奇的地方----大同土林，当地人叫“石板沟”。据村上的人们讲他们祖辈的祖辈这里就是现在这个样子，石板沟由西北向东南长约5公里。这里挺拔的土柱、绵延的土墙上黄、白、红三色在不同光照的情况下呈现出不同的色彩变幻：时而金光闪闪，时而红若火焰，时而黛如深渊，时而白如霜田……
如果您是一位地质学爱好者，土林清晰的土层结构变化，一定在对您诉着她的沧海桑田。
放眼望去，土林的奇特另人眼花缭乱，褶皱、沟壑、洞穴、断崖、高柱、长墙无序地排列组合成一个魔幻多变的世界：有的犬牙交错，仿佛恐龙啸天；有的壁立千仞，那一定是天界地缘；有的独居单处，好似隐士休闲；有的成双成对，疑是情人热恋；有的三五成群，有如古堡森严。
土林的西南边伸入到一片宁静水域之中，这是一个天然形成的水坝。站在岸边眺望，在天光倒影中的土林，更是扑朔迷离恍如梵界。
阳光普照，碧水蓝天，来到这里，定会疑是天外仙界，飘飘然神飞九天。
冷风凄凄、阴雨绵绵，置身土林，恍惚如坠鬼域魔界，战战兢兢、毛骨悚然!
当东边天际第一缕阳光出现，金色的土林在晨雾中时隐时现，这时你定然相信这里一定居住着神仙。
夕阳西沉，彩霞满天，静寂中不时传出归巢的鸟鸣，这时的土林呈出魅影般的黛色。这难道是西天的魍魉世界？或许三藏法师还在那里受难!
时光流逝、季节更替，土林万化千变。

FROM THE MAGIC WORLD----THE EASSY OF THE EARTH FOREST IN DATONG

From the Shanxi Province Datong urban district embarks, leading the way along Datong to Hunyuan County traveling special line, about 30 kilometers ，we arrive at the Duzhuang village. In the north of the village there is the canyon region full with the imaginary color. Nobody knows how long has the thick loess experienced with many years’ water erosion and wind and frost ,then this mysterious place - - earth forest(Tulin), the native called “the flagstone ditch” accomplished. According to the villagers here, it has been the right appearance since their ancestry's ancestry’s time. The flagstone ditch is approximately 5 kilometers long from the northwest to the southeast .Here, on the tall and straight earth pyramid, continuous dirt wall, the tricolor of yellow, white, red presents the different color in the different illumination's situation: glittering, being red like flame, black as abyss, white as frost field.

The cold wind becomes overcast, the rain to be continuous, being in the earth forest, you feel so terrified that it seems that you fall into the world full with the evil spirits.
When the first wisp of sunlight appears in the east, the golden earth forest appears and disappears from time to time, by now you are sure to believe that it is the place where the immortals live.
